FINNISH SKATEBOARDING

A collaborative effort with professional skateboarder Roope Tonteri blended our ideas of a skateboarding halfpipe in the trees and afloat in the waters in a Scandinavian setting. Over the course of three days in the Finnish hillsides outside of Helsinki our idea was realized as we skated and photographed the same mini ramp in two different locations. The first being three meters above ground in the trees, sitting on a firm deck constructed for this purpose, hosting two complete days of skateboarding trickery. Early on the third morning Roope, his father and I deconstructed the halfpipe, ran it down the hillside and rebuilt it on a floating dock. His Dad Pekka then rowed the mini ramp across the lake to the ideal location for an afternoon of skating that lasted well into sunset. This was certainly one of the most creative and fun skateboarding shoots I’ve ever been a part of, thank you skateboarding, Roope and Pekka. Blotto
