Roam Around
The World

In late December of 2003, I flew to Munich on a mileage run to see the Pleasure crew and present my scrapbooks to them, as we had brainstormed a couple months prior about publishing Part II in the story about snowboarding, travel, photography and my documentation of it all.
I arrived in the morning, had a coffee with Markus, Bene and Hans, caught up on all things snowboarding and life, then proceeded to fall asleep on their couch due to the time change. Over the course of the day, Markus must have scanned at least a hundred pages while I dozed in and out of consciousness, intermittently offering some jet-lagged infused input on this page or that page and its importance to the essay.
That evening, refreshed from the daytime snooze, we had a great dinner, discussed layout and design of the article, talked about print and the onset of digital, then headed to the hotel in lieu of the next morning’s flight. Twenty-four hours in Munich seeing my good friends at Pleasure, setting an editorial piece in motion, discussing season plans, and catching up on life was well worth more time traveling than the destination itself.
I’m forever indebted to Pleasure Magazine, the founders and editorial staff for their continued support of my work for nearly two decades.
